ANVISA Publishes RDC 865/2024 Allowing the Sale of 70% Ethyl Alcohol for Public Health Measures
On May 10, 2024, ANVISA published RDC 865/2024 in the Official Federal Gazette, authorizing the sale of ethyl alcohol in liquid form with a concentration of 70% (70°INPM), due to the public calamity state declared in Rio Grande do Sul resulting from climatic events. This measure was taken to facilitate public access to the product, which is effective in preventing the spread of microorganisms.
The products sold must be registered as personal hygiene antiseptics, hospital disinfectant sanitizing products for surfaces and non-critical items, or as a medicine with ANVISA.
RDC 865/2024 is effective until August 31, 2024, for stock exhaustion, and the unrestricted sale of the product is allowed for up to 90 days after the resolution’s validity period ends.
