A lei dá o prazo de dois anos para que as autoridades sanitárias responsáveis apliquem medidas que garantam o uso de métodos alternativos e a fiscalização do uso de dados obtidos no teste com animais.

On August 30, Law 15.183/25 was signed into law and is now in effect, prohibiting the testing of cosmetics on vertebrate animals, both domestic and wild, across the entire Brazilian territory. This new law replaces Law 11.794/08 and Law 6.360/76, which previously regulated animal testing.
The law grants two years for the responsible health authorities to implement measures that ensure the use of alternative methods and the monitoring of data obtained from animal testing.
